About
Studies have found that black women's hair is 2.5x more likely to be perceived as unprofessional, and that over half of black women feel they need to wear their hair straight in job interviews to be successful.
We believe through education it is possible to break this negative stereotype; thus this study was created.
The study takes place over 4 days and can be completed remotely. Below is the daily protocol required of participants:
- Day 1: A member of the research team will email you a link to a survey for you to complete - this must be done on a laptop/computer and takes about 20 minutes. During the survey you will also need to download an app on your phone which will be the education portion of the study. Don't worry, this is all explained thoroughly in the survey and there is a tutorial on how to use it! You will then complete your first app session which takes roughly 5 minutes.
- Day 2: A reminder email will be sent to complete your second app session (maximum 5 minutes).
- Day 3: A reminder email will be sent to complete your third app session (maximum 5 minutes).
- Day 4: A final email will be sent with a link to the final survey, as well as a reminder to complete your final app session. It is very similar to the initial survey except it is slightly shorter.
After completion of the study, participants will be awarded a £15 Amazon voucher.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
